2018 VW Passat Offers a New Warranty, Powertrain, and GT Trim Level
2018 Volkswagen Passat interior overviewThree large changes that help to update the 2018 VW Passat are the addition of a new warranty, base powertrain, and GT trim level.
The warranty provides limited bumper-to-bumper protection for 6 years or 72,000 miles (whichever comes first). It’s also transferable meaning subsequent owners can also reap the benefits if the warranty period is not up.
The base powertrain has changed from a 1.8-liter TSI engine to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI engine that offers even more kick and better fuel economy than the 1.8-liter engine of the past. The 2018 Passat will also have an available automatic transmission system on all six distinct trim levels.
Lastly, the Passat will get a GT performance-inspired trim for 2018 that offers a powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine paired with trim-specific performance and design features. The GT trim is not currently available and will be sold at some point around the middle of the model year.
