2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Preferred Fuel Type
Volkswagen recommends that when you head to the pump with your 2018 VW Tiguan you fill it up with high-quality premium fuel. With that being said, in this case it is a recommendation and not a requirement. You could choose to use regular fuel in its place. We recommend following VW’s lead here and going with premium fuel. Your vehicle is likely one of your largest investments and the engine is one the most expensive pieces. Premium fuel will keep it lubricated and running smoothly which can help to reduce strain and expensive repairs keeping you in the driver seat for much longer.

Can I switch back and forth between fuel types?
While the choice of fuel type in the 2018 VW Tiguan is up to you, you should not switch back and forth between premium and regular fuel. This could be hard on your engine and is also a pretty big waste of money as an occasional tank of premium fuel when you usually use regular will not increase engine and vehicle performance. Switching fuel types one time for the long haul though should be ok.
