Volkswagen Confirms Their Electric Microbus Concept Car Will Go to Production
Volkswagen fans went nuts after the release of the I.D. BUZZ electric Microbus concept car at the Detroit Auto Show in 2017. So nuts, it seems, that Volkswagen has decided to produce the bus for the masses. The Volkswagen I.D. BUZZ launch date has been set for 2022 giving us 5 long years of eager anticipation.

Volkswagen I.D. BUZZ Launch Date Set for 2022
The all-new I.D. BUZZ will have a massive interior like microbuses of the past and will probably feature multi-variable seating, modern connectivity, and automated driving capabilities that were highlighted on the concept vehicle. The I.D. BUZZ will not just be hauling passengers either. Volkswagen has plans to launch an I.D. BUZZ CARGO model specifically made to utilize automated driving to deliver goods in cities while using zero-emissions.

“After the presentations at the global motor shows in Detroit and Geneva, we received a large number of letters and emails from customers who said, ‘please build this car’,” said Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess.
“We are delighted that our parent company has taken the decision to produce the I.D. Buzz. This vehicle is the perfect balance between emotion, usability and sustainability, while also showcasing our technological leadership. The high seating position, cargo capacity, overall visibility and all-wheel drive option packaged into such an appealing design is just what our customers want from us. And it’s the perfect fit for the zero-emissions American lifestyle,” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region of Volkswagen.
